What kind of price tag would you put on your grandmother’s wedding dress? Your grandfather’s World or Korean War uniform? Drawings and other memorabilia from your kids’ pre-school and early school years?
You’d call each one priceless, of course. Knowing that no amount of money could ever replace the item or the sentimental value you place on each one, not to mention the memories they afford.
And while there are so many items that fall in the category of “irreplaceable,” there’s one thing they have in common – each can be severely damaged if not destroyed by water damage, or the mold produced by an influx of water.
How to Protect Your Home & Valuables from Water Damage
There are many things we can do to help you recover from water damage, but we can’t replace memories – and yet we can help you preserve them. Here are just two means at our disposal:
Water Shut-off Valve. Water can leak from just about anywhere – rusty pipes, a corroded water heater tank, a garbage disposal or dishwasher, and much more. With a water shut-off valve connected to line-of-sight sensors, even the smallest leak will be almost immediately detected which in turn will shut off your main water valve, thus preventing water from building up and causing real damage. When you think about it, a water shut-off valve is more valuable than insurance.
Sump Pump. While your shut-off valve also can detect water pouring into your basement from outdoors, there’s nothing it can do to stop the flow – your main water heater valve is not part of the problem. That’s where sump pumps and back-up sump pumps come into play. Sump pumps are real work horses capable of keeping up with even an aggressive flow of water. But they also run on electricity meaning that if the power shuts off, so does the pump. That’s why many of our customers use a back-up pump that will engage automatically should the main pump go off for any reason.
At Norhio Plumbing, we’d much rather help you prevent water damage than make repairs after damage has occurred – we’re confident you agree. That’s why we invite you to contact us today for help with protecting your home and valuables.
