Household plumbing problems are bad enough when you can clearly see the cause.
But what about when you see stuff going on and can’t figure out the cause…even more frustrating, right? Well, any time you notice one or more of the following symptoms, there’s a good chance the problem in question is a blocked or damaged sewage pipe.
Root Blockage
If tree or shrub roots have grown near an underground sewer line, they can work their way inside or form cracks of their own while seeking out the very waste matter you’ve disposed of. Gurgling toilets and tub and shower drains backing up are two such warning signs.
Mold on Walls or Ceilings
If there’s a leak in a sewer pipe behind an inside wall or above a ceiling, the possibility of a cracked sewer pipe should be investigated before things get worse.
Slow Moving Drain
If your toilet, tub, or sink is draining unusually slow and nothing you try is making a difference, once again a blocked sewer is at least one likely cause.
The Grass is Greener?
If a small patch of lawn is green and more lush than the rest, there could be a cracked or broken sewer pipe beneath the surface. In such a case, the raw sewage escaping the piping is serving as an all-natural fertilizer.
Indentation in Your Lawn or Paved Walkway
Extra green grass or healthier-than-normal landscaping aren’t the only signs of an underground sewage leak. By consistently saturating the ground around it, areas of your lawn or walkway can dip toward the fractured sewer.
Cracks in Your Foundation
The longer an apparent sewer problem goes undetected or ignored, cracks can form in the foundation or pavement.
