Regular exercise can help reduce the risk of high blood pressure and heart disease, relieve stress, improve your mood, and increase energy. It also can help you sleep better. And yet for some, even a 20- to 30-minute exercise is difficult to squeeze into an already busy day.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t exercise at all…sometimes you just have be a little more creative in your approach. Here’s how:
- Rise and shine. Do some gentle stretches right after waking up to help jump start your day. Add in some crunches, jumping jacks, and push-ups for even better results.
- Take the long way. Skip the elevator or escalator and take the stairs, park further away from the entrance, or ride your bike to work.
- Take advantage of desk time. Do overhead extensions or bicep curls with hand weights while reading email or talking on the phone.
- Tap into technology. If you’re stuck at a desk all day, set a reminder on your smartphone to get up and move at regular intervals.
- Find a walking buddy. Whether in the morning, during lunch hour, of after work, walk with a friend to help keep you motivated and accountable.
- Make the most of housework. Move vigorously as you dust, vacuum, and scrub. Lawn and yard work are also good for the body and mind.
- Workout while watching TV. Hop on the treadmill or elliptical or clear a space and do some floor exercises.
- Rethink happy hour. Skip the usual dinner and drinks with friends or coworkers and shoot some hoops, play tennis, go bowling, and so on.
The more vigorous the exercise, the more you’ll appreciate a hot shower to help soothe sore muscles. But should your water heater fail to perform up to speed, contact Norhio Plumbing. We service and repair all makes and models, plus we guarantee your complete satisfaction.
