Unless it’s a guest bath reserved for occasional visitors, the bathroom is arguably the most used and abused room in the house. Between the daily showers and morning prep, those luxurious bubble baths, and all the other business that takes place in the Your Bathroom, it’s no wonder that cleaning it is no one’s idea of a good time.
But getting your bathroom spotless doesn’t have to be a time-draining, arduous task. With just 30 minutes or less and these 7 simple steps, you can get your bathroom spick and span, and fit to pass even the toughest critic’s inspection. Anyone come to mind?
- Keep your supplies organized. A small bucket or caddy can keep your bathroom cleaning supplies at your fingertips. Fill it with your favorite cleaners, microfiber cloths, rubber gloves, and anything else you might need.
- Clear off and spray surfaces. Put all your toiletries back in their place, remove dirty towels and bathmats and spray down the counter, backsplash, outer surface of the toilet, the bathtub, and shower surround. Do not wipe off just yet.
- Clean the toilet – Squirt toilet cleaner into the bowl and under the rim. Scrub the inside with a toilet brush, and wipe the outer surface down with a rag. Spray the toilet brush with cleaner, rinse, and put it away.
- Scrub the bathtub and shower – Using a sponge or soft brush, scrub the shower surround and bathtub, paying close attention to corners and grout lines. Rinse well.
- Move on to the floor – Use a broom and dustpan or a broom vac to pick up any dirt off the floor. Fill the sink with warm water, add floor cleaner, and dunk a rag or mop in the solution. Wring it out and run it over the entire floor. Wipe it dry (or let air it dry) and drain the water from the sink.
- Wipe it all down – Wipe down all the surfaces you sprayed previously with a clean, wet cloth. Spray the mirror with glass cleaner and wipe away to a streak-free shine with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Spray the inside of the sink and rinse. Use the same damp cloth to polish up bathroom fixtures.
- Make a clean finish – Replace the soap dish, hang up clean hand and bath towels, and lay down a clean bath mat. Throw the dirty bath mat, towels, and rags into the laundry, and enjoy your sparkling clean bathroom – if only until the next person invades and starts the cycle all over again. But that’s another blog topic for another time.
